Charcoal Grill
About This Spot
Stepping into Charcoal Grill in West Bend feels like settling into a well-loved neighborhood gathering spot where time slows just enough to savor good company and heartening flavors. The warm, inviting hum of conversation blends with the subtle clink of glasses and the savory aromas coming from the kitchen, creating a comforting sense of familiarity without ever feeling predictable.
Here, the pace is casual and unhurried, perfect for reconnecting with friends or unwinding after a busy day. The atmosphere strikes a balance between lively and relaxed, with friendly servers who genuinely seem to enjoy making each visit feel special. Whether it’s a family dinner, a catch-up with an old friend, or a solo moment at the bar, there’s a welcoming rhythm that encourages diners to linger a little longer.
Food at Charcoal Grill is thoughtfully rooted in classic American comfort but with touches that feel distinctly local and personal. It's the kind of place where a crispy, golden plate of Friday night fish fry coexists harmoniously with the satisfying richness of a pulled chicken sandwich or the playful indulgence of side onion strings. Wood-fired pizzas and hearty salads round out the menu, while attentive bartenders craft cocktails that suit both the season and the spirit of the moment.
Regulars often find themselves coming back for the simple pleasures—a savory bowl of chicken dumpling soup, a perfectly grilled steak, or the ritual of warming up with soft pretzels dipped in Spotted Cow cheese sauce. The pace and mood adapt fluidly from midday lunches to evening meals, making Charcoal Grill a versatile spot that feels right no matter the hour.
In all, Charcoal Grill thrives as more than just a place to eat — it’s an approachable, heartfelt experience where food and atmosphere combine in that quietly rewarding way only a true local favorite can offer.

Staff was very accommodating as we were visiting with someone we hadn't seen in almost 10 years. We sat quite a while before ordering. Tator Tot appetizer! They were soooooo good Sorry, forgot the pic. My son had a Charcoal Burger, I was lucky to get a picture because he was really hungry. It was gone quickly I had the Wisconsin Harvest salad with Chicken. I've had it before and for good reason. It's really delicious with cranberries, apples, blue cheese and more. Served with a raspberry vinaigrette...yum! Wait staff even helped us capture the reunion in pictures, so sweet.

This place has stepped up its game in the last few years. The food and service is very good. I remember coming here several years ago a couple of times (I live in the neighborhood behind this establishment) and the service was awful. So great job manager, cooks, and waitresses. Tonight i had the fish fry haddock beer batter. 10 out of 10. Pizza appetizer 10 out of 10. Fries 10 out of 10. The server (sorry forgot her name) awesome. Thank you for the great meal.

4/24 I ordered the cobb salad, lots of bite sized vegetables, hard boiled egg slices, diced tomatoes, bacon pieces, salad greens, black olives, and avocado slices, balsamic vinaigrette for dressing. I ordered one of the specials advertised on the tables. Ribs and strings, four bbq ribs on a pile of deep fried onion strings. Cocktail of the month of April was lemon meringue martini. Martini glass had sugar and pie crust on the rim. Taste like lemon meringue pie. 7/23 Once again I used Google assistant to find out the wait time. This time I tried the deep fried cod bites basket. Light and crispy deep fried cod bites size pieces of cod. Perfect for a light snack. Perfect if you don't want the full fish fry dinner. One of my favorite things about the Charcoal Grill in West Bend is, there are Mexican cooks working and listening to their own music in the kitchen. Seems like they are running the kitchen. They are doing a great job. 6/23 I used Google assistant to find out if Charcoal Grill was busy and had room for one person. That worked really well. Every time I pass the West Bend Charcoal Grill it seems too crowded. I was pleased to find lots of room in the restaurant. This Charcoal Grill was very different from the Charcoal Grill in Grafton Wisconsin. I was warmly greeted at the door and was seated immediately. My server was pleasant, energetic, had a great attitude, and very attentive. Saw my needs before I needed it. I ordered the cheese bites, it's Spotted Cow beer battered breaded cheese cubes. Didn't really need ranch dressing. Very tasty, crisp, and cheesey. I ordered the chicken and ribs dinner, served with salad, waffle fries, and roasted vegetables (green beans and sliced carrots). I also received a small loaf of bread with regular and cinnamon whipped butter. Ribs were meaty, great barbeque sauce flavor and fall of the bone tender meat. The rotisserie chicken wasn't quite the same as the other Charcoal Grill in Grafton Wisconsin. Didn't have the excellent barbeque flavor. It did taste good, skin was crispy, and meat was tender. I really liked my server, she made up for two of the last places that I felt ignored. Like I wasn't a problem because I choose to eat alone.

Food is delicious. Went twice in the past 2 weeks. Their chicken dumpling soup and sweet potato fries are my favorites. Good wraps and sandwiches also. Had two different waitresses the two times I was there, and they were both excellent!

Such a pritty restaurant! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the claw machines where RIGGED

Pretty good place to catch a meal. Large menu with fish fry on Fridays. Sat at the bar and was served quickly. Daily specials, happy hour specials, large banquet hall as well. Have been back since and have a few favorites on the menu. Bathrooms are clean! Prices seem high, but right now, 2023, all prices are high.
